The Weekly Nail Report

August 2, 2011

So this post should really be called the only-occasional nail report. But that’s what happens when (1) you have long-lasting Shellac on your nails (this fruity Tropix shade is one of my faves now) and (2) you’re running around like a madwoman for the past month getting ready for a trip of a lifetime with no time to do your toes. But anyhow…

Nail-job craving: Bold and bright — and something that would coordinate well with khakis and beige tones. Why? Because I’m flying to Africa today for an assignment (yes, amazing, I know!) and, well, that’s what I envision myself wearing there. Just envision, because the truth is I actually don’t own lots of beige and khaki clothing, but in the fashion spread I have in my mind’s eye, I’d be wearing one incredible safari-inspired wardrobe while there (in reality, it’ll mostly be shorts and hiking shoes).

(and everyone sees their life as though it were a fashion spread, right??)

How I satisfied that craving: At Tips Nail Bar, where I swooned over the fantastic new colour options they have in Gelish, Entity and Artistic Colour Gloss. I chose Gelish in Tiki Tiki Laranga, a neon orange I’d coveted on Beauty Geeks‘ nails earlier in the week. But then I also fell in love with the hot pink shade (ack, I forget the shade name) and was feeling a bit boring having just one colour on my nails, so Leeanne suggested doing my pinkies in pink and the next finger in half orange, half pink.

How this nail colour make me feel: Excited and ready to take on the heat, track some gorillas and go on safari.

Love it or hate it: Love. Although I do feel I now can’t get the hot pink for my next mani as I’d been planning, since I’ve already got a little taste of it on now. Ah well. Yes, it’s a rough life I lead 🙂
