Beauty Swellness: Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover for Glitter

Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover for Glitter

Have you ever skipped wearing glitter nail polish because it’s such a pain to remove? I know, total first-world beauty problems. But it is a pain, is it not? After a particularly stubborn, refused-to-budge glitter polish two years ago (I may have put on three heavy coats of it), I’ve pretty much steered clear of glitter; I swear it took longer to remove than watching an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians (or do those episodes just feel painfully long?).

But with the holidays here and needing a little bit of pretty cheer, I broke out some gold polish and glitter (Essie Jiggle Hi Jiggle Lo and Essie Top of the Rock) and then to remove it, I gave the Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover for Glitter ($11) a whirl. You dip your finger into the foam and it removes your polish and glitter — that’s what it promises.

And it does work pretty well. I found some of the big flecks of glitter of Top of the Rock more stubborn and I chose to remove the last bits with a cotton pad and remover instead (but the product might’ve come off had I dipped a little longer), but it definitely made the glitter-removing task way easier.

And so, I’m welcoming back glitter into my life! Glitter on.

Beauty Swellness: Essie Resort 2014

Essie Cocktails & Coconuts

Nail craving: With a break between gel manicures, I’ve been playing with the bottles I’ve got at home and with dreams of a beach getaway on my mind, I grabbed the Essie Resort 2014 collection (In the photo below, from left: Cocktails & Coconuts, Resort Fling, Find Me An Oasis, Under the Twilight).

How I satisfied that craving: With the nude Cocktails and Coconuts — how’s that for neutral? (I did try the peachy Resort Fling colour first, but it went on rather sheer and by the time I put on three coats, my application was rather thick and I ruined it when I went to bed before it had completely dried).

How this nail colour makes me feel: satisfied, zen feeling after a yoga class. I love my bold superhero manis and Comme des Garcons nails, but neutral can be nice.

Love it or hate it: Love.

Beauty Swellness: The Nail Report

Essie and L'Oreal

Nail-job craving: I went to a nail spa event with nothing in mind for my nails — even though I should’ve thinking “What does one wear to a boy band concert?!” (Going to see The Package Tour — NKOTB, 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men — tonight!).

How I satisfied that craving: I picked up Essie Bouncer It’s Me (hey, that name kinda makes sense if I were trying to get backstage tonight!) as I really like Essie Butler Please and I welcome having someone else apply blue shades on my nails as I find any imperfections really show when I apply them myself.

How this nail colour makes me feel: Bouncer It’s Me turned out to be way darker than I was wanting. I got home and wanted a way to change it up, but I have no skills when it comes to nail art. But then I spotted the bottle of L’Oreal Top Coat Dots in my basket o’ nail polishes that I’ve been meaning to try, and easy peasy, the tiny speckled white and black dots added a sprinkling of fun-ness.

Love it or hate it: Love the Dots topcoat from L’Oreal, so-so on this shade of blue from Essie.
