“Running is a waste of time”

May 31, 2012

I’m paraphrasing — but that’s not too far from what Harley Pasternak (aka the fitness expert responsible for some of the hottest bods in Hollywood — he’s worked with Rihanna, above) told me about my running.

Which I already know (although that’s not going to stop me from training for another marathon).

But I will try out his advice — check out Pasternak’s 3 tips on getting the celeb bod he shared with me last week.

I Wouldnt say it’s a complete waste of time… not that I run…nope, not me. Step class, love it. Weight training, Oh yea and Yoga everyday, of course, and I do love walking. But what’s nice about running (I think about it while I’m walking) is how efficient it is. I am older than you (and most everyone else) and I came into the workout world via Covert Bailey’s Fit or Fat books and I love them. His approach makes sense. Running burns more calories in a shorter period of time. Period! ‘Nough said. I think what a lot of trainers (including me) are trying to get across to their clients, is that you must have a balanced outlook to fitness. If all you do is run, you’ll be lean alright, but you will also have tight hamstrings, bum knees and hips ect ect. So, like you, you run, you also do yoga and weight train. I say if you love it go all Nike on it and Do it! But do it balanced. Love your blog!

Thanks, Cheryl! (if you go to lipstickpowdernpaint.com, you’ll see that I clarify what Pasternak said).
