“Running is a waste of time”

I’m paraphrasing — but that’s not too far from what Harley Pasternak (aka the fitness expert responsible for some of the hottest bods in Hollywood — he’s worked with Rihanna, above) told me about my running.

Which I already know (although that’s not going to stop me from training for another marathon).

But I will try out his advice — check out Pasternak’s 3 tips on getting the celeb bod he shared with me last week.

Get eccentric

Being a little more eccentric at the gym may pay off.

And no, this doesn’t mean you have to adopt a Lady Gaga persona (but please do if you’re feeling it, you little monster, you).

Thirty minutes of eccentric exercise–ie. exercises that emphasize the negative or lengthening phase of resistance training–may provide a boost to your muscle strength and insulin resistance, according to new research.

Think downhill walking and bench stepping, for example.

It does the body good

Your best beverage bet if you’re looking to build muscle and lose more fat (and don’t we all? OK, that’s a little presumptuous–let’s just say it’s on my wish list) is to drink milk after resistance training, says a new McMaster University study.
