The return of the TV dinner

January 14, 2010

Watching television and eating is, in general, not a wise combination: studies have linked it to greater calorie consumption, and a recent study found that you burn more calories if you watch less TV.

A “TV dinner” I’m very much looking forward to, though, launches tonight at Grace Upstairs, the chic space one level up from Grace restaurant. For TV Dinner Thursdays, chef Dustin Gallagher goes retro, serving up one-course meals (it includes a meat or fish entree, along with organic veggies and a potato or cornbread side dish and a sweet treat for dessert). All for a recession-busting $20 (seems like they’ve set a retro price, too).

The beef cheeks I devoured at Grace a few weeks ago

After an incredible meal at Grace a few weeks ago (meatatarian that I am, I had sweetbreads for my starter and beef cheeks for my main ), I plan on  switching off my TV and heading straight to Grace Upstairs in the very near future. See you there!

TV Dinner Thursdays, every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 at Grace Upstairs, 503 College St.
