Old makeup is dangerous

February 25, 2010

So not only am I regularly chomping down on some risky foods, I also am guilty of holding onto old makeup (despite having written articles about the topic, not to mention just that I and every other woman out there should simply know better!). How about you, what do you have lurking in your cosmetics bag?

A recent survey conducted by Debenhams (a retail chain in the UK and Ireland) found that the average female Brit holds onto makeup for 4 years, ie. way, way, way past it has expired.

Really, is it worth holding onto that pricey foundation if it’s laden with bacteria that’ll give you an infection? Besides, this gives you a reason to invest in a whole lotta new cosmetics (and there are some great goodies coming out right now that I’ll be posting about in the next week or so). I know I’m trashing my old makeup today, right after my midday nap.

I know! Ew, I am so grossed out with myself for hanging onto ancient makeup! Don’t forget to clean your cosmetics bag, too (who knows what the mishmash of spilled powder and bits of gloss are now breeding in the bag itself!). (shudder)

Not only can you avoid infection (gross!),if you take in six MAC make up cases and they will give you a free lipstick or eyeshadow.
