Clubbing days

April 5, 2010

Did you head home for Easter weekend and get all wound up thanks to your folks and family drama? Were you wishing you could find some zen while you were there?

If you travel a ton (or just want to take your at-home yoga practice to the next level) the Gaiam Yoga Club will have you performing chaturanga better than ever.

Developed by Colleen  Saidman and Rodney Yee (one of my personal favourites when it comes to yoga teachers on DVD — I like his calm, soothing manner and A.M. Yoga for Your Week is in regular rotation for my home-based training), this 12-week online training program costs $5/week and offers nine hours of videos that guide you through 75 poses and over 60 downloadable audiocasts, not to mention of course the 12 weeks of yoga classes — which you do at your own pace (ie. if you’re not practicing weekly, the program will last you longer than the three months).

I think the club is perfect for jetsetters looking to keep up with their sun salutations while on the road (like when at home with the ‘rents) — it’s not always easy to find a yoga class when you’re in another city that fits your schedule and location. As a GYC member, if you’ve got your laptop (and an internet connection), you’re all set.
