Cheer-me-up products

December 30, 2010

These dreary grey skies–I just find it a big ol’ downer.

So I’ve been desperately seeking little pick-me-ups (other than Krispy Kremes) and thankfully, there’s plenty to had:

If giddiness could be encapsulated in a hair product, for me it’s Kevin Murphy Powder Puff, $26. Let’s detail out its awesomeness:

  1. The irresistible, crazy cute, round pink container.
  2. The name–Powder Puff!
  3. Voluminous hair = one happy Health & Swellness (you may have noticed I’m a little obsessed with adding volume to my fine hair, having recently posted about another volume-boosting powder not long ago)
  4. But perhaps best of all? Open the container and check out how the powder is dispensed:

Love!

(btw, its volumizing power comes not from potato starch but rather from “a sphere of powder is called Nylon 12; these microscopic spheroids are derived from skin care, designed to make the imperfections less apparent.”)

Next up: OPI Big Hair from its upcoming Texas collection. This juicy pop of colour is an instant mood booster. Some of y’all probably think of it as a summer colour, but I’m donning it on my digits whenever I don’t have a kickass Axxium mani from Tips Nail Bar.

(it also, coincidentally, is named for my other obsession).

And lastly, Hard Candy Visibly Wet Shockingly Glossy Lip Pencil in Precious. It, too, like the Big Hair poish, is a happy orangey shade. And its name makes me giggle because it truly is the glossiest lip pencil with a unique texture (not quite a gloss, not as hard as a pencil but not quite a lipstick consistency either).

But a big reason I love it?  The chubby chunkiness of it. It’s a tactile thing, I guess. Oh, and the price is most definitely something to smile about–$6 at Walmart.

Simple pleasures–that’s what’s gonna get me through this winter :)
