Nail craving: With a Vinylux giftcard (thanks CND Vinylux!) expiring at the end of 2013, I trekked over to the spa at the Four Seasons Toronto to get a new colour just in time for New Year’s Eve. I wanted subtle sparkle — and one simple colour was fine after having gold leopard print nails for the past three weeks.
How I satisfied that craving: With Vinylux in Midnight Swim, a deep navy shade with tiny sparkles so it’s quite subdued in terms of its glitter factor. The photos I’ve take here aren’t doing it justice.
How this shade makes me feel: Ready to ring in what I expect to be a super duper year!
Love it or hate it: Love. And I love the Vinylux formula. It actually lasts longer than other nail polishes on my chip-prone digits.

Nail-art craving: I went through a phase of loving everything leopard print, that was probably about 10 years ago. And my passion for this print appears to be back with a vengeance as everything I buy lately seems to be leopard (from a Nike sweatshirt I picked up last month in NYC to my C Wonder iPhone case above). And when I saw a friend’s leopard manicure on Instagram a few weeks ago, I knew I needed the same.
How I satisfied that craving: Leeanne Colley at Tips Nail Bar took my leopard print wish and ran with it, creating this little number here: half -moons in Shellac Black Pool, the gold base is Entity Vintage Couture, and the leopard spots she did using Black Pool and Shellac Cream Puff. At the end she added a line in Bluetiful to help define the gold polish from the stripe of negative space below it.
How this nail art makes me feel: Like I need a whole new wardrobe. One that’s got loads of pieces that are tighter. And shorter. And shinier.
Love it or hate it: Like? It’s a bit in your face (yes, this is the girl who adored her superhero nails calling this a bit in your face). But with the right outfit and jewelry, this mani is hawt.

“So I’m thinking I want dark and matte,” I said to Leeanne Colley, Revlon Nail Expert, at yesterday’s Revlon media event.
“Urban is great,” she replied.
I swear Leeanne can read my mind — that is the exact shade I’d been leaning toward. She topped off Urban, a deep navy, with the Revlon matte topcoat, and I love the results.
Urban is not one of the new shades launching in January and February 2014, but there’s lots of great stuff coming out, from cool tools and metallics and glitters (that’s Rich and Chameleon above), along with a Nail Art Shiny Matte collection of five shades, and 10 shades of Revlon Nail Art Sun Candy (the fun bright shades totally have me craving the sun — must start planning a tropical getaway or two!)
