Foodie Swellness: Market Class at Le Dolci
June 4, 2014
You know I love to cook, if you follow me on Instagram. The truth, though, it’s that I love to eat. I’d happy relinquish cooking duties more often if I could.
But cooking with a chef from France (Christophe Measson), the lovely Lisa Sanguedolce (the owner of Le Dolci) and a bunch of fun peeps including a trip to the farmers market to buy the goods to cook? When I got the invite to try the new Market Class at Le Dolci, I was all “Count me in!”
From about 6PM til about 9PM, we hopped across the street to the Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market (which I didn’t even know existed — I’ll definitely be returning) to buy our smoked trout, cheeses, greens and more. Then we put on our aprons and got cookin’ in teams. We prepared:
- buckwheat blinis topped with sheep’s cheese, mushrooms, smoked trout and chives,
- arugula, baby kale and radishes salad dressed with olive oil and lemon,
- organic pork chops marinated in honey, olive oil, sage, garlic, spices and lemon zest, then breaded and fried and finished in the oven,
- an insanely good green-goddess sauce for the handsome pork chops,
- fiddleheads, rapini and asparagus,
- and for dessert, an almond streusel with poached rhubarb, rosewater and Italian meringue.
Much eating and lots of laughs, and a pretty darn tasty meal to enjoy when we were all done. Check Le Dolci’s site for info on when the next Market Class ($129) is.
Interested in cooking with more of a Travel Swellness angle? Lisa also has culinary trips to Europe, which you can find over at Foodie Trips.
