A darn good oatmeal raisin cookie

February 23, 2010

Have been craving sweets lately, oatmeal raisin cookies in particular. And so I went on the net to find a recipe for a chewy oatmeal cookie recipe that’s healthy (or at the very least healthier than the typical recipe) and ended up making this version from pastry chef David Lebovitz’s blog. (I just recently read some of his book The Sweet Life in Paris and I figured if he was sold on this recipe, that’s good enough for me to give it a shot.)

According to The Skinny Gourmet, this recipe has 25 percent fewer calories, half the saturated fat and a quarter the regular fats of other oatmeal raisin recipes, and I totally agree with her that it strikes a fine balance between healthfulness and deliciousness.

Pull on your apron and get out those baking sheets — these cookies are so worth the effort.
