Sweat Week: Sun protection for sweat fests

The Discovery Channel’s got Shark Week; well, I bring you Sweat Week — a week of posts on surviving the heat waves this summer.

I sweat a lot. Think drippy. Drenched. Doused in perspiration. YUCK. I once popped into a shop after a run and the cashier asked me if it was raining, Um, no, that’s just how much I perspire when I run, lady, thanks for noticing.

So I’m excited about Neutrogena Wet Guard Sunscreen. It’s mostly being promoted for kids, it seems to me anyhow, as you can apply it to wet skin and the sunscreen can break through moisture. The technology involves a special blend of emollients and polymers that cut through water on the skin, allowing the UV filters to set up on your skin quickly, providing the same waterproof sunscreen protection as when applied on dry skin.

So when the kiddies are running out of the pool, you can apply it on them in a jiffy before they run off to play some more.

But it’s ideal for sweaty folks like me who can now reapply it asap (making a lovely melange of sweat and sunscreen on my skin, yummy! But hey, what matters most is that I’m not getting burned, right?).

Sweat Week: Cool as a cucumber

The Discovery Channel’s got Shark Week; well, I bring you Sweat Week — a week of posts on surviving the heat waves this summer.

Showering a-plenty with the high temps? Me, too. The best part of a long, crazy hot run is the long, cold shower afterwards. And my current summer favourite for showertime is Olay Moisturizing Body Wash in Soothing Cucumber. The scent is fresh and clean but subtle. I can almost pretend I’m on a spa getaway (cucumber always = spa in my mind, with all that cucumber water they serve up) (except not really since I’m just at home in my regular shower).

But it is a nice treat (and you can’t beat the price; each product in the collection rings in at under $11)..

Exercise = Excitement

Want more excitement in your life? Peeps who exercise experience more feelings of excitement and enthusiasm than those who don’t work out.

Plus, you’re more likely to say you feel excitement and enthusiasm on days you were more active than usual.  These findings are from a Penn State University study.

Good reason to work up a sweat.

Or this bikini (which I am utterly obsessed with) is another good reason for exercising, so you can rock your tone bod in it on the beach.
