Travel Swellness: Leaving for Las Vegas

Las Vegas strip at night

Spa. Pool. Dinner. Show. Repeat.

That’s my schedule for the next five days in Las Vegas.

When I was last there, in December, it was to run the Rock n Roll Half-marathon, so I was limited when it came to eating and drinking (couldn’t risk having tummy issues on race day!) — this time, with no half-marathon to run while there? Fun times in store!

But the best part? I’m going to be doing yoga with the dolphins again!

Travel Swellness: 4 great outdoor pools in Toronto

Radisson Admiral hotel pool

How you handling this week’s heat wave in Toronto?

Did you know the city’s public pools are open late during the heat wave? This is pretty much one of the few reasons I’d go to one. For this and to swim laps during adult swim hour.

But to hang out and enjoy some pool time? Not so much.

If I want to treat myself to a day of R&R by a pool with friends, I’m partial to having a chaise longue…and cocktails…and tasty bites. Does that make me a princess? Say it ain’t so!

Well, so be it. Me and my princess self set out on a mission to check out some great outdoor pools you can buy day passes to in the city. Check out the top Toronto pools roundup over at Travel + Escape.

C’mon, aren’t these Tojitos (Toronto + mojitos, get it?) at Cabana Pool Bar looking mighty fine?

Dangerous dip

Given that I hate to sweat, swimming is one activity I prefer since you don’t notice yourself perspiring while in the pool.

But this new research is enough to give me pause (or at least have me reading a magazine on one of those chaise longues more often than actually doing laps): long-term exposure to the chemicals used to disinfect indoor pools are linked to a higher risk of bladder cancer.
