Being a brown noser’s good for your health

Would you believe sucking up to your boss is beneficial to your well-being?

Besides possibly helping you further your career more quickly, ingratiating yourself to your superior may help you avoid the depression, tension and emotional exhaustion you may experience at the workplace when ignored by your colleagues, says a study published in the Journal of Management Studies.

Kind of makes you want to pick up a latte for boss lady tomorrow morning, doesn’t it?

Friendly colleagues will help you live longer

That pal at the office you go to grab coffee with every morning? Or that one you know you can confide in when your boss drives you batty? They often feel like lifesavers, especially when things are insane at the office, and it turns out they may be helping increase your lifespan.

According to a study from Tel Aviv University, the social support you get from coworkers at work is linked to reduced risk of death over a 20-year period. Buddies with the boss? This relationship showed no similar benefits to your health.
