Beauty Swellness: The Nail Report

Kiss Gel Polish in Sweet

Nail craving: Something suitable for Vegas, baby! Last visit to Las Vegas I was running the Rock n Roll Half-marathon so I had some nail art for running the race.

How I satisfied that craving: What better than nails the colour of money, money, money to go with Sin City where everyone is hoping to win big? This colour is called Sweet and it’s a gel polish from Kiss.

How this nail colour makes me feel: It’s perhaps a bit soothing and subdued for Vegas — perhaps I should’ve layered some glitter overtop for some sparkle? But who knows? Maybe my nails the colour of money will help me win money gambling and I’ll be able to make it rain. (Update: I didn’t gamble a cent so it kinda made it hard to win anything :)

Love it or hate it: Love, but I’m thinking it’s more Palm Springs (there’s a bit of a retro feel to this shade, no?) than Vegas.

And don’t forget: Click, click, click! Not only is that a great NKOTB song (haha), it’s also how you can help me in the Activate Your Inner Champion contest I’m in. Just visit this link, read about my fitness dream goal and then click to vote! You can vote once daily. Thanks for your support!

Travel Swellness: Leaving for Las Vegas

Las Vegas strip at night

Spa. Pool. Dinner. Show. Repeat.

That’s my schedule for the next five days in Las Vegas.

When I was last there, in December, it was to run the Rock n Roll Half-marathon, so I was limited when it came to eating and drinking (couldn’t risk having tummy issues on race day!) — this time, with no half-marathon to run while there? Fun times in store!

But the best part? I’m going to be doing yoga with the dolphins again!

Travel Swellness: 5 healthy to-dos in Las Vegas

dolphins at the Mirage hotel

Check out these two cutie pies! No, really, go check ‘em out in their sanctuary (ie. they’re not forced to do flips and entertain us, but live there as they’re studied for research) in Las Vegas as you take part in most lovely yoga class you’ll ever take. The serenity of the dolphins paired with the yoga practice can provide a boost in your oxytocin levels, according to the lovely yoga instructor.

For more unexpectedly healthy activities in Vegas, read my story over at Travel + Escape, who I’m writing for regularly now about health and wellness and culinary travel and hotels — that’s my fancy badge on the right of your screen making it official and all.
