Be a quitter

January 25, 2010

Have you resolved to quit smoking in 2010? Get your butt in gear while butting out – it’s a win-win situation. A recent study at the University of  Western Ontario found that supervised exercise, used in combination a quit-smoking treatment such as nicotine replacement therapy, can help smokers kick the habit. In fact, at the end of a 12-week program, 70 percent of women in the study had given up smoking. Wowzers. True, only 27 percent were non-smokers after one year. The researchers speculate that their findings suggest that exercise needs to be maintained to avoid relapse.

My suggestion? Redirect that money you’ve been spending on cigs to go towards a personal trainer, dance class or gym membership. Whatever method you choose, good luck!
