It’s all a blur

September 29, 2010

A cream that can take up to 10 years off your age, yada yada yada.

Yeah, right–yet another press release that swears that this product will do everything short of solving world hunger.

And then I saw a live demo of the product. The product being a new Canadian face  cream called Nanoblur ($19).  The derm applied it on only half of a woman’s face, and holy moly, it really did make the lines in her forehead virtually disappear. It was a Criss Angel-worthy illusion, for realz.

And so I was intrigued. I spoke to cosmetic dermatologist Nowell Solish and found out that Nanoblur works thanks to how the nanoparticles reflect back light, creating the illusion that those large pores, lines and wrinkles have disappeared.

And if you’re concerned about nanoparticles getting absorbed into your skin, I was assured by the creators that while it is the magic of nanotechonology at work here, the particles are much bigger than the size that could get absorbed into your skin. (I can’t find my notes on how much bigger…

I’ve been testing it out for a few weeks now, and while it doesn’t make me look 10 years younger, it does give my often oily nose super matte finish (perhaps too matte? I haven’t quite decided yet). Anyhoo, definitely worth a try before going the injections route, in my opinion.

I will be giving this product a try. The price point definitely makes it an easier “trial” purchase. And I could certainly use some blurring 🙂
