Heating things up

We may be too comfortable for our own good, spoiled by central heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summers.

Staying indoors more often along with our expectation to always be at a cozy temp may be contributing to the obesity epidemic, says a new study from Obesity Reviews. This relatively constant state of “thermal comfort” means our bodies are exposed to fewer periods of mild thermal stress, which may both reduce our capacity to generate heat (which burns energy).
