THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. Congrats to Shawna G. on winning this #BeRemarkable prize!

We can all #BeRemarkable.

What a powerful message. And it’s one most of us could use reminding ourselves of now and again.

I’ve been thinking of people I know who are remarkable. And there are too many to mention…and to be honest probably too many who don’t know I think they are remarkable. One friend is a single mom know who shows such amazing strength and positivity after the loss of her husband. Another friend who has completed an Ironman, when she was someone I had to convince she could learn to run. Another person close to me who I know is struggling but manages to push through the issues they’re facing, issues that’d cause many of us to simply break down.

This campaign #BeRemarkable (check out the video by clicking the image above) is particularly inspiring. I don’t have diabetes but all of these incredible athletes and real people featured do. To overcome the obstacles this health condition can create thanks to the power of accuracy and not living an average life but excelling in their fields? That’s incredibly motivating surely to those with diabetes, but even for those who don’t suffer from it, like me (because if these people can #beremarkable, really, what’s my possible excuse?) The video features people in the top of their fields who have diabetes but haven’t been held back due to it thanks to accurate blood glucose level readings: Canadian Pan Am Games 400m Hurdler Gregory MacNeill, Mixed Martial Artist Dessi Zaharieva, bi-athlete Bruce Kelly, gospel musician David Seale, elite level boxer JD Firth, power lifter Alex Naccarato and many more. You can find more details on how they’ve been able to thrive thanks to accuracy by visiting www.poweredbyaccuracy.ca.

November 15, 2015, is World Diabetes Day and YOU can help spread the word that those with diabetes can be strong and achieve greatness. Simply sign up as a supporter at www.poweredbyaccuracy.ca and by joining this Thunderclap, $1 will be donated by Bayer to diabetes research and advocacy. $1 for every supporter who signs up will be donated (to a max of $60,000) and your support will allow Bayer to post the “I Am Remarkable” message on World Diabetes Day.

That’s not all, though…

Ready to #beremarkable yourself? Watch the video above and you’ll want to leap off that sofa and push your limits physically and mentally as much as these remarkable people. And what better way to motivate yourself in this quest than with a FitBit Flex to measure your physical activity? I’ve got one in black to give away to one Canadian resident and there are two ways you can enter (you can enter each method for a total of two entries):

Instagram: Follow me on Instagram @healthandswellness, and on the photo for this #BeRemarkable campaign take a friend who you think is remarkable.

Twitter: Follow me on Twitter @healthswellness and tweet:

#BeRemarkable in support of World Diabetes Day. Find out how (and you could #win a #Fitbit Flex, too). www.healthandswellness.com

This giveaway is open to Canadian residents only, and ends November 13, 2015, at 11:59 PM EST. The winner will be chosen at random on Nov. 14th and notified via the method they’ve won. If the winner cannot be reached within five days of being contacted, another winner will be selected.

Good luck and go on and be remarkable today!
