Foodie Swellness: Momofuku Milk Bar in Toronto
July 22, 2013
I haven’t been to NYC in three years. Insert weeping emoticon here.
Which for me means I haven’t had a chance to check out Momofuku Milk Bar yet either (last few visits, I tried Ko and Noodle Bar only while in the Big Apple)…
Until now! They just opened up a Milk Bar here a couple of days ago on the second floor (above the Noodle Bar) in the Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto, yippee!
And so of course I rushed over to try the famous Crack Pie. What’s it like? The very sweet pie is reminiscent of a butter tart, except less gooey/more solid and creamy, sans nuts and raisins, and with a delightful oat cookie crust, which adds a lovely crumbly texture to this addictive pie.
Truth be told, I think eating the entire slice ($6 a slice or $48 for a whole pie) gave me a headache–totes had to lie down after eating it–but I’d most certainly get another fix of it; I just might eat a bite or two next time, not the entire slice.
Also for sale, cookies! The famous compost cookie (pretzels, potato chips, coffee, oats, butterscotch and chocolate chips all in a cookie!), blueberry cream, corn or chocolate chip cereal marshmallow. Two bucks each ($1.60 for the corn one) or six for $11. There are other goodies, too, the Cereal Milk and some merch, for example, but I didn’t get a chance to check that out yet.
But I’ll be back to do so. That’s for sure, I’ll need my pie fix, after all.
Momofuku Milk Bar Toronto, 190 University Ave.
