I had a drink or two every day in Spain. Now if only I were in my 50s. Why?

New research published in the Public Library of Science journal, middle-aged ladies drinking one to two drinks a night have a 30 percent chance of better health in their 70s compared to those who don’t drink at all.

N.B. This doesn’t necessarily mean you should add drinking one to two cocktails a night to your health routine. The researchers note that it may be other factors that contribute to this healthier outcome (for example, women who tend to drink regularly and moderately tend to be women who are more social, or more physically active, for example).
