Being bored can be good for you

Time stands still when you’re bored. And while many of us will fill our schedules so that we never have a dull moment, a professor from the University of Calgary says that boredom is beneficial to us. It gives us time to step back and be contemplative, and being in a state of boredom allows us to flourish as human beings. But being bored is only beneficial in short spurts–longer stints can have it evolving into anger and depression.

(As I tend to tune into Extreme Couponing when I’m bored, I’m skeptical that’s helping me flourish…).
