Brush Crush

I love my new toothbrush.

That might sound like I’m exaggerating, but the Oral-B Pulsonic has completely changed my daily dental care routine and it truly is my favourite new gadget. (Come to think of it, a coworker raved to me about her electric toothbrush about a year ago, and honestly, I thought she was crazy. Now, I so get it.)

I used to dread brushing my teeth and would spend about 30 seconds brushing. Now, with the Pulsonic I actually like spending a full two minutes (that’s how long dentists recommend for brushing–and the Pulsonic times your brushing time, pausing every 30 seconds to prompt you to move onto the next quadrant of your teeth).

What’s so special about this toothbrush? It makes brushing my teeth simple (because of the size, shape and positioning of my teeth, getting a regular toothbrush into all the nooks and crannies has always been a pain). With the Pulsonic, I merely have to slowly pass the bristles, which are vibrating at 27,000 vibrations per minute, over my teeth and gums in a circular motion.

And the feeling afterwards? My teeth feel completely fresh and clean, and have become noticeably whiter (bonus!).

Even better, the Pulsonic keeps a charge that lasts about two weeks before it needs to be charged again, meaning I can keep the charger tucked away and my bathroom counter clutter-free, charging the brush only when it needs it.

Word of advice: If you’re trying to decide between the vibrating action of the Pulsonic or a brush that has spinning bristles, my BFF just got the spinning variety and while she’s definitely  noticed that super-clean fresh-from-the-dentist type of feeling afterwards, she did say that when she has to take the brush out of her mouth to spit mid-brush, the spinning bristles “spray toothpaste and saliva everywhere.” Ew. I’ll stick to my Pulsonic, thank you.

I’ll keep you posted on whether my dentist notices a change in my teeth during my next checkup.

TV worth giving up

I refuse to give up Glee, but I suppose a few shows I watch currently are worth giving up in order to burn an extra 119 calories daily.

Forever Young

Well, this just doesn’t seem fair: those blessed with youthful looks also live longer.
