Stressed at work? Take some vitamin B

Stress at the office at an all-time high? Scarf down some Nutella. Or a steak will do, too.

A Swinburn University of Technology three-month trial has shown that vitamin B helps to reduce work stress by almost 20 percent.

Hence my suggestion of Nutella or steak (both contain vitamin B). Or you could, you know, try supplements. Having some Nutella or a big ol’ striploin in your cubicle seems so much more enjoyable, though.

Worry some

Pencil time into your schedule for worrying — it’ll help you stress less. That is, rather than fretting all day, make a conscious effort to not mull over the things causing you concern and postpone all of this worrying into a 30-minute window. In the study, participants who did so experienced less anxiety.

(interestingly, the article notes that the study started with 62 participants but that several dropped out…can’t help but think they were too worried about devoting so much of their time to the study! :)

Sweat away your stress

You’ve decided to go for your dream job (you’ve quit your last nightmare of a gig because you heard that a bad job is bad for your mental wellbeing) and and you’re a nervous wreck for the interviews you’ve got lined up.

How to deal? Go for a run, or Zumba class, or however you choose to break a sweat. Exercise is a great way to help alleviate this type of short-term anxiety.

(It’s officially capri leggings weather btw–at least this week–should you decide to exercise outdoors).
