Beauty Swellness: MAC Strength

MAC Strength_Beauty-300

Do you have resolutions you make year after year? One of mine for the past couple of years is to do more (well, “any” would be more for me!) strength training — all I do is run, run, run.

Well, last week MAC launched their Strength collection. It includes two gorgeous eyeshadow quads (love the names — All Woman and Inner Strength), three eye liners, a mascara, five shades of lipstick, one lip pencil, two blushes and two nail lacquers all created with the strong, fearless woman in mind.

I’m particularly coveting the matte fuschia lipstick Party Parrot (but apparently so are all of you powerhouse ladies, as the website says it’s sold out, poo!). I’ll just have to settle for hot pink Pink Pigeon.

Now this is strength training I can follow through on. Excuse me while I get on with my brawny self.

Building muscle

This research finding is music to my weak arms’s ears (erm, you know, if my arms had ears…):

For a long time, the belief has been that working out with heavier weights (ones you can complete six to 12 reps with before tiring) is the best way to grow muscle. But new research from McMaster University has revealed that doing more reps with light weights is just as good at building muscle. The clincher: you have to keep lifting these lighter weights until it’s tough for you to maintain good form.
