Beauty Swellness: Ralph Lauren Big Pony fragrances for women x Essie

A fragrance and nail polish (and nail art!) collab? Yes, you’ve got this beauty lover’s attention.

Ralph Lauren’s collaborated with Essie to create four exclusive nail polishes for the RL collection of Big Pony fragrances for women.. There’s four fragrance personalities: sporty, sensual, free-spirited and stylish — each in bright coloured bottles and the Essie polishes matches each shade.

all four nail looks

And taking it to another level, Essie Canada also had their lead nail artist, the lovely Rita Remark, create custom nail art looks for each personality. For a tutorial on creating the sensual nail look (my fave of the four) clickon over to Fashion Magazine. Fragrance-wise, though, the sporty #1 is calling my name. I don’t think of myself as sporty, but the freshness of the scent seems just right for spring. Spring does make me want to be sporty, come to think of it.

In stores now, each set comes includes a 50-mL fragrance and matching Essie polish in a drawstring bag ($47 each at the Bay and Sears). In Quebec (my hometown province, what, what!), a the bag includes a 30-mL fragrancem, a 50-mL body mist and the matching polish ($67 each exclusively at Jean Coutu).

What personality are you? Sporty, sensual, free-spirited or stylish? And does your fragrance preference match your nail art style choicer?

The Weekly Nail Report

Nail-job craving: Something sparkly — yes, because it’s the holidays, but I also am trying to make someone else in my household feel more comfortable (more on that tomorrow!).

How I satisfied that craving: At the Revlon preview I attended yesterday at Tips Nail Bar, with two base coats of Smoldering (an elegant iridescent silvery lavendery shade, with a glittery layer of Stunning overtop.

How this nail combo make me feel: The look feels pretty versatile, like it can be dressed up (for a chic soiree)–the sparkle is subtle enough for it–or down (for a hipster bar). Whenever I look at my nails (which is more often than is healthy!) I think of that prismatic silver ribbon, know which one I mean?

Love it or hate it: Love, as did at least two other peeps at the event (one editor tried the same look, and the other is planning on it for a party she’s attending on the weekend)… I like to think of myself as a muse (kidding!).

The Weekly Nail Report

This week, I got to check out all of Revlon’s new products at an event at Tips Nail Bar. As I’m currently testing out a certain soak-off gel on my nails for a story I’m writing, I didn’t get a mani (and was insanely jealous of the nail jobs Leeanne and her team crafted that day) but my toes got pampered.

Nail-job craving: Something bright and cheerful–I always feel I can go brighter and more bold on my toes than my fingers.

How I satisfied that craving: Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel ($6.50) in Chili–an intense, spicy orange. The formula dries in 60 seconds so I didn’t have to worry when I pulled on my socks and boots after my pedi.

How this nail colour makes me feel: Like I’m on vacation with the bright sunshine on my toes as I walk on the sand. It also makes me want to drink a tropical cocktail in this exact shade of juiciness.

Love it or hate it: Love. I’m in Arizona all week and this shade will look fantastic with my gold sandals. (but, wow, do I ever need a spray tan…).
