Travel Swellness: The cabanas and pool party scene in Las Vegas

Rehab LV

In July, I felt like I got to go on the spring breaks I never took in university. How’s that? I got to check out the daytime pool party scene in Vegas, but in the best way–from the comfort of the luxe cabanas (I was on a press trip). One VIP cabana (the one we had at Hard Rock for the Rehab LV party, decked out with our own private pool) normally rings in at $10,000. At Tao Beach Club, where the bikini-clad staff had the hottest bods of any of the pool parties we checked out (major workout motivation!), the Veuve was flowing and the party was jumpin’, jumpin’.

And let me tell you, non-spring-breaker me loved every second.

I know–you might think tacky and just not your thing, but I dare you to go and not have fun. (But yes, it helps if you’re doing it on one very generous account :)

For the scoop on three of the parties and cabanas, check out my post over at AmongMen.

The Weekly Nail Report — the Chicago edition

Nail-job craving: After I made the mistake of not choosing goldleaf when Leeanne Colley (owner of Tips Nail Bar) suggested it to me a few weeks ago, I put myself in her skilled hands and just said I wanted a Chicago-worthy manicure. (I’m off to the Windy City for vacation).

How I satisfied that craving: Leeanne started with Artistic Color Gloss in Sassy, a pretty pale pink. Then, using small balled up pieces of saran wrap, she dabbed on white art paint, then China Glaze in Pool Party (a neon pink), then CND in Plum Truffle (a purple) and finally, some black art paint. Then using a brush anbd acetone, she tidied up the tips to reveal the Sassy (I think this step was a must; it cleaned up the look so that it looks on purpose rather than like I was overzealous in art class and got paint all over my nails) and lastly, a coat ot topcoat.

How this nail colour make me feel: Chicago-ready, after all it’s a city known for its’ art and graffiti. I’m pretty sure these nails will be conversation starters in Chi-town.

Love it or hate it: LOVE.
