Beauty Swellness: Physician’s Formula Endless Color Custom Nail Polish Trios

Physicians Formula

Now in stores are these cute nail polish trios from Physicians  Formula. The trio of polishes snap together (sorta like Lego for mani junkies) and come in eight diferent sets, ranging from Bare It All (white, nude and a pale pink) to bolder ones (such as the deep blue and purples of Trendsetter Chic). Mix and match ‘em for endless possibilities. Throw in some nail art action and the possibilities truly are endless. I’d impress you with some mathematical equation to demo the endlessness, but considering I need the TipQuick app to calculate tipping in restaurants, well, that just ain’t gonna happen!

It’s the blue from Fashion Icon I’ve got on here (And yes, my nails are long. “Riri long,” according to one of my besties. They’ve since been filed down a bit). I liked the consistency of the polish, but did find the short cap/brush a bit difficult to use since holding the brush so close to my nail created shadows on my nail bed, and with my hand so close to the nail I was polishing, I felt like my hand was blocking my view of my nail. As for chippage, I can’t comment as I had it on for less than 24 hours (I did my nails at 2AM, yes, that’s what I do when I’m feeling night owl-y, and then I had a manicure appointment the next aft — so many manis and polishes, too little time! :)

(This blue, though? Fun, non? It totally reminds me of the Peacock Blue pencil from the Laurentien colour pencils I had in elementary school? Remember those? My favourite was Cerise, which I used to draw the red pouts on my stick figure drawings — it seems I was always a fan of red lipstick!).

Five of the eight trios are above (from left: Fashion Icon, Treat Yourself, California Goddess, Trendsetter Chic and Smokin’ Haute). Which is your fave? I think I want to try the orangey red from the Cali Goddess trio next!

Physician’s Formula Endless Color Custom Nail Polish Trios, $13.99 each. Available at drug and mass market stores.

Beauty Swellness: Physicians Formula’s new bronzers

20130301-154530.jpg

I’m fresh home from an incredible trip to Mexico (check my Instagram for some pics from the trip — I also wrote up the three hotels in the Metro newspaper earlier this week. Missed the article? I’ll be sure to link to my next article on the trip, too, once it’s published). One week in that sunny, warm slice of heaven and I’m still high off of all that swellness.

I’m also pretty pale. Not much of a tan, thanks to liberal applications of SPF 60 all week.

Helping in both respects — keeping the happy vibe going and giving me a bit o’ colour: the new Glow & Mood-Boosting Baked Bronzer and Illuminating Bronzing Veil from Physicians Formula ($20 each). I mean, seriously, the cute packaging and format is enough on its own to make you smile, right?

But that’s not all. The two bronzers are part of the Physicians Formula Happy Booster line, so it’s infused with goodness to boost your mood, such as violet and citrus fragrance notes, an omega-3 to trigger dopamine production, and an Arctic rose derivative that mimics the effects of feel-good endorphins.

I like to think of them as a Mexican getaway in a compact.

Happy “travels”!

Once you go green, you may become mean?

I’ve been obsessing about this absolutely gorge Physician’s Formula refillable compact since Beauty Geeks blogger (and friend) Janine posted about it earlier this week. And while I’m not quite ready to switch all of my makeup to the green variety, I am definitely more aware of what I’m using and interested in exploring the options available. (Be sure to read Lesa Hannah’s great article in Fashion Green Beauty: An Education if you haven’t already).

Anyhow, with all of this greenness top of mind and with Earth Hour this Saturday, this interesting study conducted by psychologists at the University of Toronto that found that the use of green products may make one feel morally virtuous, leading some to act out unethically in other ways caught  my eye.
