When you’re on the go, being a quick draw is a must. Even better if it involves some pretty designer packaging.
Burt’s Bees has teamed up with Canadian fashion label Bellavance and the result is this adorable limited-edition lip holster. The organic cotton case features a stripe motif inspired by one in Bellavance’s latest collection, while also incorporating a honeycomb pattern. Plus, it comes loaded with two of Burt’s Bees best-selling Timted Lip Balms (Hibiscus and Blush Orchid) and two brand new Lip Shimmers (Apricot and Grapefruit).
And it’s all in the name of saving the bees. 100 percent of proceeds from this collabo will go to Pollinator Partnership Canada to help fund the expansion of the Wild for Bees bee hotel initiative across Canada.
I always travel with several lip balms in my carry-on, so this will be making it into my handbag my next trip!
Launching June 1, 2014. $19.99 at www.burtsbees.ca and where Bellavance is sold.

Maybelline Baby Lips Electro = the lip balm cure for SAD — what with the cheery neon shades, the big, bold lettering, the teeny price tag ($4.99).
And let’s not forget the shea butter and vitamin E formula (it’s rare that I find a lip balm in a tube emollient enough for my parched lips, but this one works for me).
And with the dull, grey skies and frigid polar vortex craziness — we need all the help we can get to battle the winter blues and c-c-cold, dry air, n’est-ce pas?

I’ve got detoxes and elimination diets on the brain lately–what with one friend on a detox diet and the Consonant Body Healthy Skin Detox for Face Kit giveaway I currently have on the go (have ya entered yet??)–and these gluten-free product launches from Green Beaver landed on my desk.
Even though gluten protein is too large to be absorbed through the skin, it seems that many peeps with celiac disease and gluten sensitivites still seek out gluten-free skincare–as a way of preventing cross contamination. So you folks will be glad to hear that Canadian company Green Beaver are launching in March the first certified organic gluten-free personal care products. The range includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion (each $9.99) and lip balm ($5.99).
I’m a bring-on-the-gluten kinda girl when it comes to my diet, and, it turns out, when it comes to my body lotion, too. I tested out GB’s new lotion and while it definitely has a pleasant light feel and great hydrating properties–it even managed to moisturize my crazy parched skin–its’ citrus fresh scent is a bit strong for my taste, and a tad peculiar to my nose (perhaps the turmeric in it?)–think spicy lemon cough drop.
