How much longer will you live thanks to exercising?

We’ve heard before that staying active and fit will help prolong our life expectancy, but a new study tells us how much longer.

The study, published in the journal PLOS Medicine, was able to put a number on how many years are added to your life for various levels of physical activity and for different BMI groups.

I (being physically active and in a normal weight group) gain 7.2 years when compared to someone whose BMI is greater than 35 and doesn’t get active.

If you’re 40+ and  your leisurely activity equates to about 150 minutes of brisk walking over a week’s time? Booyah, 3.4 years added to your life expectancy.

Yet another reason I’ll be addicted to earning more Nike Fuel every day…

Cougars, beware

Being married to a much younger man may lower your life expectancy, ladies.

Same goes for if your husband is much older–the greater the age difference from the husband, the lower a woman’s life expectancy, says a new study from the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research.

Smile on and on

Ladies, you may be tempted to dermal filler-up those laugh lines, but perhaps you’ll reconsider knowing that the deeper those  laugh lines (and the wider your smile) are a sign you are more likely to live longer.
