Sweet goodness

If you’ve tried Marble Slab Creamery ice cream, you probably don’t need much convincing to head there for a cone. I’ve never had it but a foodie friend swears it is the most delicious ice cream, like, ever.

Whether you love it or are a Marble Slab virgin, definitely try to drop into one of its 73 locations tomorrow (Saturday, July 24th) for a scoop as Marble Slab Creamery stores across Canada will donate $1 to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Canada for every cone sold. Or if you find yourself there anytime up until August 8th, purchase a paper cone to be displayed in the window to help the Marble Slab folks reach their goal of raising $20,000 for the charity.

This way your sweet indulgence will do more than just give you a sugar high.

Scoop dreams

Take Pop Tate’s Chok’lit Shoppe (you know, Betty and Veronica’s hangout?), give it a stylish makeover and you’ve got the Drake’s Scoops + Tees.

At this new pop-up shop you can treat yourself to a scoop (or two) of all-natural ice cream from local ice cream purveyor Metropolitan (we taste tested pistachio — yum!) not to mention fresh t-shirts featuring limited-edition prints from Shared Beloved Basics.

Our only regret? Not trying the straight-from-the-Drake’s-kitchen ice cream toppings including housemade graham streusel, corn flake crunch and bourbon caramel sauces–but that just gives us an excuse for another visit very soon. And we’ll make sure to stick around long enough after devouring our ice cream to burn off some of the calories at the adorable micro-mini bowling alley (meant for kids…but aren’t we all kids at heart?).

Oh, and did we mention the sweetest deal? Pop by Mondays between 7 and 9PM during Scoops Happy Hour where you score two scoops for the price of one.

Scoops + Tees, 1142 Queen St. West; Open Sunday to Wednesday, noon til 9PM; Thursday noon til 11PM; Friday and Saturday noon til midnight.
