Foodie Swellness: Quesada burritos giftcard GIVEAWAY

Quesada burrito bowl

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. The winner has been drawn at random; scroll to the bottom of the post to see if you’re the lucky winner! Thank you to everyone who entered!

Guacamole, salsas, cheese–I could eat Mexican every week! Whether it’s a night out with friends catching up over tacos and margaritas, or when I need a quick, healthy lunch on the go.

I’ve just added Quesada to my list of go-to spots for a quick, fresh and affordable lunch. Have you been? They make their salsas in-house and each morning ingredients are prepared to be their most flavorful, such as the tomatillos and beans, which are both slow-cooked. And the rice? It’s cooked with cilantro and lime (although I wish it was kicked up a notch with even more of both, but I think most people prefer a subtler taste).

I go for their burrito bowls (sometimes you just want the insides of the burrito but not the wrap, right?). I like it with the spicy chicken and all of the toppings, and usually add guac (guac makes everything better, right?). But you can customize it to however you enjoy your bowl.

A bit of background about the company that I love? Well, how can you not love that Quesada is a Canadian company, and it was started by a guy who was working in tech but wanted to bring fresh, tasty Mexican-inspired food to us all? That was 12 years ago and Steve Gill now has 59 locations nationwide (and still growing!).

What’s your fave order at Quesada? Well, whether you’re a regular or you’ve never been, I’ve got some fun news for you: I’ve got one $50 Quesada giftcard to give away so that you can go to the location closest to you and get yourself a fresh, tasty Burrito Bowl.

Quickie bite: Chipotle

A new location of Chipotle opened today in Toronto (the third one here) at 123 Front St. West. Yum!

It’s one of my favourite spots for a quick, inexpensive bite — it’s that cilantro rice that gets me. Ok, and the tender, perfectly seasoned meat.

(btw, they now offer brown rice, too, for you health nuts)

Didja know they’re committed to organic produce and naturally raised meat? (here in the Toronto locations, the pork comes from du Breton farm in Quebec, and the organic chicken and beef is from Beretta Farms, which is just outside of the  T-dot)? I didn’t know that at first; I just knew that my burrito was pretty darn tasty.

My usual order? The chicken burrito with black beans (fibre, yo!) and guacamole (healthy fats!). With all of that, the burrito ends up being bigger than one of my cats.

So I only eat half. And save the rest for lunch the next day. There you go, that’s my smart-dining-out strategy for you for today. You’re welcome!

(I kid, but I do often only eat half my main and take home a doggie bag — but usually the reason is so I can have a bite of dessert…).
