Fitness Swellness: Forever21 Activewear

HI_Look 4_4277_R1

New from Forever21? Activewear. From tights and sportsbras to tanks and capris, in a mix of solids and prints in sweat-wicking technical fabrics. All of it, like everything else from this fast-fashion chain, is super easy on the pocketbook: pieces range from $10.80 to $33.80.

I tested out the gear last week over a fun session of Skyrobics at Skyzone (an indoor trampoline park). Comfy and does the job, but as for wear and tear, I’ll have to put it through several uses and laundry cycles to determine that. Do try on the items first — sizes tend to run small, but it also depends on the style, too. I do love the playful touches (I need that charming heart-print sports bra!) and the functional details (a hole in the hoody so you can wear your hair up in a high ponytail!).

What better way to stay motivated with your get-fit resolution (don’t tell me you’ve already given up??) than some inexpensive new gear? A few of my fave F21 Activewear pieces:

Forever21 Space Dyed Workout Shorts

Space Dyed Workout Shorts, $9.80.

Forever21 Reflective Trimmed Performance Capris

Reflective-trimmed Performance Capris, $23.80.

Forever21 Medium Impact heart print sports bra

Medium Impact Heart Print Sports Bra, $16.80.

Forever21 Hooded Running Jacket

Hooded Running Jacket, $33.80.

Fitness Swellness: NTC Week

image

Today is “Blue Monday.” A day many of us are apparently feeling more down than usual, thanks to the bad weather, debt, the blues after the festive holiday season, and resolutions that we haven’t managed to maintain even just a few weeks into the new year.

(in any case, I don’t believe in Blue Monday — one day we all feel depressed, puh-lease — and in fact, it appears it was a PR ploy…)

But there’s no denying that some of us may be feeling a bit unmotivated and as grey as the skies here in Toronto.

To help kickstart your motivation to feel better and get healthy, Nike is launching NTC Week this week, starting today. To take part, download the Nike+ Training Club app and do one workout from it a day for the entire week. Think of it as a way to recommit to your fitness resolutions if you’ve faltered already.

I’ll be taking part — the Get Focused workouts are as short as 15 minutes. I can commit to that even on hectic days.

BTW, if you’re in Toronto, if you screen capture one of your N+TC workouts, Instagram it with the comment “Count me in” and the hashtag #NTCfit, you can score an invite to a live NTC session with Eva Redpath (there’s brunch afterwards!) being held this Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Sound Academy.

So, how about it? Count you in? Let’s do this!
