Fitness Swellness: Roxy Outdoor Fitness

Roxy (who recently launched a collab with Diane Von Furstenberg) has also expanded their outdoor fitness collection.

I had a chance to put some pieces of the collection to the test this week at a climbing gym event Roxy held (loved the experience — did rock climbing outdoors in CEGEP but never in a climbing gym!).

A big thumbs up for the bright pops of colour and prints (not so common in fitness gear) in the collection. The tank is loose and easy to wear (possibly a bit too thick to wear for a run in a heat wave, though). The yoga pants run a bit long (be prepared to hem them unless you have exceptionally long stems), or skip them in favour of the sassy little Hot Competition Fitted Shorts.

My fave pieces from the collection, which is available now on roxy.com.

Pull Rank bag, $88.

I got too wrapped up in climbing to ask someone to snap pics of me with my iPhone reaching the top of the wall. Sad face. (But if the photog at the event got any of me, I’ll be sure to post a photo!)

Oh, Roxy also had these charming little chalkboards at the event for us to jot down our fitness goals or mantras. Here’s mine! I’ll be hanging it up somewhere I see it every day so I stay focused for the Vancouver Marathon, which is a mere month away!

Fitness Swellness: Joe Fresh Active

Joe Fresh Active ombre tee

I’ve kicked off this year determined to accomplish a few things and two of them are to declutter and to exercise more (namely strength training — I’m training for a 30k race in March and a marathon in May, so I’ve got my cardio covered).

I’ve unloaded tons of stuff at Goodwill already and am chipping away at getting rid of more every day so decluttering is a work in progress. I’ll be tackling my overflowing wardrobe of fitness gear next. I have piles of sweat-wicking pieces, and yet I tend to only wear the same ones (the ones that fit and wear well) over and over.

So out with all of the old and unused, and to help motivate me to do that strength training and endless marathon training, I’ll be picking up a handful of new items. H&M has their new Sport line, and I’m also shopping at Joe Fresh — look at these inexpensive, fashion-forward pieces from their current Active line. Printed leggings ($29), shiny shorts ($16) and an ombré top ($16)? Yes, please!

At least if I don’t achieve a new PB (that’s personal best for you non-running folk), it’ll be a stylish best 🙂

Fitness Swellness: H&M launches Sport collection

Good news for all of you who’ve made a New Year’s resolutions to get more active in 2013: H&M has launched a Sport collection. Including items such as fuel belts for running and tights for Spinning, the line (made out quick-dry and recycled polyester fabrics) is affordable (starting from $9.95, sweet!) — and I promise you’ll feel better working out in gear you feel good in, rather than that grubby gear you dug out of the bottom of your closet.
