Travel Swellness: WANT Passport

Want Passport

Having spent a fair amount of time in airports in the last couple of years, anything that makes the time more than just pleasant but actually enjoyable is something I welcome more than NKOTB and Backstreet Boys touring together (OK, maybe that’s an slight exaggeration — nothing beats NKOTBSB :) But this comes pretty darn close to that heavenly joint boy band in my eyes.

Introducing WANT Passport, three boutiques in the Billy Bishop airport in Toronto. Brought to us by the people behind the brand WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie and the WANT Apothecary, the stylish shops sell covet-worthy items; goods so covetable that your friends and family might want you scrambling to buy them a gift from your trip from these shops rather than anywhere else during your travels.

From the chic WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie handbags and accessories and to-die-for (and hard to find in Canada) beauty goods from the brand Aesop (I am in love with the Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm) to the sleek Persol sunglasses, now you have a stylish spot to shop in over at Billy Bishop once you’re done noshing on the lounge’s complimentary almonds and cookies.

Mommy dearest

An early wakeup call, long lines at customs and security, followed by my flight being delayed by two hours, which made me miss my connection, resulting in a six-hour wait in the airport for the next available flight, all has me stressing out big time (oh, and did a mention that I think I lost my cell phone somewhere along the way, too?).

According to new research, a phone call with my mom may help by triggering the release of stress-diminishing hormone oxytocin, helping to calm my frayed nerves.

Which is a strategy I’d consider right now…if I had my cell phone handy.

-sigh-
