Foodie Swellness: Where to eat in Vancouver

IMG_7511

This here? Where I’d rather be right now instead of in front of my computer at home. It’s the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver. I had a delicious lunch in one of those cozy chairs on the deck back in May. Find out more about it and four other delicious spots to grab a bite in Vancouver in my article over at Travel + Escape. (By no means an exhaustive list, just a few highlights from that trip!)

Travel Swellness: Heading out west

Sonora Island

I’m westbound, baby! Tomorrow, I’m off for a few days in Vancouver (which I fell in love with in May when I was there to run the Vancouver Marathon), but I’ll also be heading to an island just north of the city, the one pictured above. I’m super stoked because, well, look at how stunning it is, and because it’ll be a trip of many firsts:

  • My first time on a helicopter (the island is only accessible by boat, seaplane or heli), will I feel like I’m in the opening scenes of The Apprentice or Jeff Probst bringing the votes back from the Survivor island?!
  • My first time salmon fishing (what’s a chic outfor for this?!?),
  • And I’m sure the adventure tour or cuisine will include something new to me, too!

Stay tuned — maybe there’ll be an Instagram of me with my big catch from my fishing excursion!

Plus, I’m hoping to attempt my very first hike up the Grouse Grind (it wasn’t open when I was in Vancouver two months ago)! Who knows, maybe I’ll discover I’m truly an outdoorsy girl at heart (when outdoorsy includes gourmet food and spa, that luxe kind of outdoorsy!)

Travel Swellness: West Coast-bound!

Tourism Vancouver

I’m off to the west coast for a couple of weeks for:

  • a whole lotta running (in the Vancouver Marathon on Sunday! 42.2k!)
  • giggles with my Vancouver friends
  • much good eating
  • and a jaunt down to Seattle

(oh, and work of course, but that’s all part and parcel.)

Okaaay, maybe some shopping, too. I made some fantastic buys at Obakki and One of a Few on my last trip to this part of the world.

Yup, it’ll be my second time in Vancouver; the first time was with Nike to run the Nike Human Race 10k (seems like running is what brings me out to this coast, eh?). The visit seemed shorter than The Place Beyond the Pines, though, so I still feel like a VanCity virgin.

Follow me on Instagram (@healthandswellness) and Twitter (@healthswellness) to keep date with me as I run, eat, and work from the west siiide!
