Beauty Swellness: Schick Hydro Silk Taking Strides, Sharing Stories (psst, there’s a giveaway here!)
All too often, we don’t get the opportunity to pat ourselves on the back or to honour the ones in our lives that inspire us. To help recognize the amazing women in our lives, Schick Hydro Silk has created the Taking Strides, Sharing Stories online gallery.
And you can (and should!) take part. Think of the person that inspires you—it could be a story about yourself, or your best friend, your mom—someone who helps to make the world a better place. Share your story with me, in the comments below and you will be one of the first featured on the online gallery! Feel good about it too; for every story or photo uploaded, Schick Hydro Silk will donate $1 to a women’s mental health program.
Schick asked me to share a personal story about strides I’ve taken. There are plenty of things I’d love to improve on, but I am pretty chuffed about the progress I’ve made in running. I can remember struggling with running straight through one minute back as a new runner in 2007, and never in my wildest dreams would’ve thought I could complete a marathon. I continue to work at getting faster and stronger, and running actually helped me pull my life together during a very tough time.
And now I continue to share my training and races because I’ve been told by so many people (even from people I’ve never met who’ve sent me a quick note via email) that it’s gotten them to work out or to try running, too, and how it’s help them improve their health or even helped them through a rough spot in their life, as well. A friend who just started running recently called me the wind beneath her wings, and as much as she said it in jest, I was touched.
And as for women who inspire me – so many in my life, too many to mention, but it includes strong, adventurous women who’ve made brave steps to find happiness and ones who’ve picked up their lives after devastating losses. I feel fortunate to have so many incredible women in my life.
