Beauty & the East: Flaunt Boutique

This week, Health & Swellness is spotlighting some of the get-gorgeous hot spots in Leslieville. This east-end Toronto ‘hood is best known for its brunch, bakeries and coffee shops, but a girl cannot get by solely on caffeine and cupcakes, and, thankfully, a few beauty shops have started to crop up, too.

Who: Flaunt Boutique

What: Ivan, former artistic director of Yorkville’s Concepts Salon & Spa, opened Flaunt three years ago. Cuts start at $55 for women, colour from $60 and blowouts from $35.

Why: Get your tresses done right in a friendly, chilled-out atmosphere — there’s no attitude at this salon. And, best of all, chances are you can get an appointment that fits your hectic schedule; Ivan and his team often accomodate appointments up until midnight. You can also stock up on Bumble and Bumble products here.

When: Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. til 8 p.m.-ish; Saturday, 9:30 til 6 p.m.-ish; Sunday, upon request.

Where: 260 Carlaw Ave., Suite 101B; 416-469-4826

Beauty & The East: Steeped and Infused

This week, Health & Swellness is spotlighting some of the get-gorgeous hot spots in Leslieville. This east-end Toronto ‘hood is best known for its brunch, bakeries and coffee shops, but a girl cannot get by solely on caffeine and cupcakes, and, thankfully, a few beauty shops have started to crop up, too.

Who: Steeped and Infused

What: Jennifer Best opened up her tea shop in Fall 2009. Besides stocking 80 varieties of loose leaf tea, Steeped and Infused also hosts Intro to Tea and health workshops along with tea leaf readings — fun!

Why: Get your green tea fix here to beautify from within. Green tea, in case you haven’t heard, is truly a beauty potion. It’s been linked to everything from weight loss, and healthy skin to having a younger biological age. Health & Swellness’s fave: Steeped and Infused’s Japanese Cherry variety.

When: Mondays 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays to Fridays 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sundays, 11:30 to 5 p.m.

Beauty & the East: The Ten Spot

This week, Health & Swellness is spotlighting some of the get-gorgeous hot spots in Leslieville. This east-end Toronto ‘hood is best known for its brunch, bakeries and coffee shops, but a girl cannot get by solely on caffeine and cupcakes alone, and, thankfully, a few beauty shops have started to crop up, too.

Who: The Ten Spot

What: Manis and pedis (choose from OPI or Spa Ritual nail polishes), 45-minute Dermalogica facials, waxing, tinting and for gents, some manscaping.

Why: Sure, there are plenty of great brunch spots in Leslieville, but where else can you catch up with a girlfriend over brunch and Brazilians? For $60, dig into continental brunch and bevies with your besties before having your muff tended to. (And don’t worry, you get your own private room for the Brazilian.)

When: Open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day

Where: 1402 Queen St. East, Studio D1; 416-915-1010
