Foodie Swellness: Iceberg Latte recipe

Nespresso Iceberg Latte

In these last few days of summer — and some very welcome heat here in Toronto a few days this week — I’ve been using my new toy, the Nespresso Vertuoline (a sweet gift from the folks at Nespresso) to whip up these Iceberg Lattes.

I like to have one after a long run as it’s cold and refreshing, it’s got some electrolytes thanks to the coconut water, and some milk, which is good for post-workout recovery…but they’re good on any ol’ sunny day, too — no workout required!

Iceberg Latte

1 Nespresso Vertuoline capsule of Decaffeinato Intenso or Altissio, brewed
3 oz. coconut water
2 oz. skim milk
2 tsps agave nectar (light or amber)
2 cups ice
Combine all ingredients except ice into large cocktail shaker. Stir to co,bind and dissolve nectar.
Add ice to shaker and shake to chill.
Pour entire contents of shaker, including ice into glass.

Foodie Swellness: Mint Lime Detox smoothie recipe

Mint Lime Detox smoothie ingredients

When I was in Whistler hanging out with Olympian Kelsey Serwa, we got to make some of the Zico Coconut Water smoothie recipes and I’m completely addicted to one in particular — the Mint Lime Detox smoothie. It’s as refreshing and vibrant as it sounds and I’ve been having it a few times a week. Here’s the recipe (it makes 2 cups):

  • 1/2 cup Zico Original Coconut Water
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1 1/2 bananas
  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 1/2 lime, peeled
  • 3 mint sprigs, just the leaves
  • 1/2 cup kale or spinach (optional)

Fitness Swellness: Train like an Olympian

Kelsey Serwa ski cross

Two weeks ago, I got travel to Whistler to ski with Zico Coconut Water-sponsored athlete Kelsey Serwa — you know, the Olympian who won silver in Sochi for ski cross. NBD.

First, she did one of the ski cross courses and explained the sport to us (I took a video of her demo — you can watch it on my Instagram). Then we did a quickie ski lesson that she tagged along for. Then I got to sit down with her and chat about her training and what it was like to stand on the podium in Sochi.

And while you  may never compete in the Olympics, you can definitely learn from how she approaches her training and apply it to your routine. Visit AmongMen to read about 8 Ways to Train Like an Olympian.
