Here I go: I’m going to run a marathon (gulp)
“Why on EARTH would you do that to yourself?”
I’d just cheered on my sister in her first marathon some years back and this was what I was thinking. I had no concept of what 42.2k meant (other than freakin’ long), I just knew she’d been running for more than four hours. FOUR HOURS. Hence my “Why oh why????” I mean, sure she looked happy, but lots of things make me happy–like sleeping an extra four hours.
And here I am in 2012 planning to run my first marathon.
See, since then, I’ve somehow become a runner (check out what I get from running here on my post at The Kit). And I’ve got nine half-marathons and one 30k race under my belt (that’s my pile of medals above) and I need a new challenge. And short of running a half even faster (which would call for killer speed training), I’d rather double the distance — so I think that means I’m only somewhat a glutton for punishment? Or maybe I’m just crazy, like that blogger chick on the current season of The Bachelor.
Wish me luck. Training will be hard.
And long.
And sweaty.
Oh. Boy.
Hangover cure: Exercise it away
If you’ve got a mild hangover, exercise will help get your blood circulating and get rid of your symptoms faster, says this Medical News Today article. With New Year’s Eve here and possibly many cocktails being consumed (hey, it happens), check it out for more tips.
(although they recommend making one drink last for a half hour–ie. four to five drinks over three hours…which seems like A LOT. Yowzers. No? Maybe I’m just a lightweight.)
Get Pippa’s perfect posterior
I’m surprised it too so long for this to be released — although the timing works well in terms of so many of us feeling like our derrieres are oozing wider every day with every shortbread cookie and glass of wine we consume:
Pippa Middleton’s Pilates instructor, Margot Campbell, has just released a workout DVD, The Perfect Pilates Bum.
And admit it: you were envious of Pippa’s perfect posterior when you saw her walking that aisle that morning. The bad news is the DVD is not out here in Canada yet — you can, of course, just head to any Pilates class near you. Sure, it won’t be Pippa’s regime per se, but I’m doubtful Campbell has reinvented the Pilates workout.
When a bright, bold lipstick is a no-no
I had a good stint wearing Joe Fresh matte lipstick in Fuschia this summer. But I’ve found two worthy replacements for it this season.
They’re both from the new Lancome Rouge in Love collection in stores in February ($30 each). That’s 377N from the Tonight is My Night palette (ie. the deep, intense shades) on the left, and 351B from the Boudoir Time palette (ie. pigmented, have-some-fun shades).
Whenever I wear either colour, I’m always asked “What are you wearing? Love it.”
But there is a time I will NOT be wearing either of these lipsticks — check out my post on thekit.ca today to find out more!
