New Year’s Resolutions

Happy 2011!

Have you made any resolutions for this year? One way to motivate yourself to stick to them is to tell friends and family what you resolve to change this year, so do share! Here are mine:

(1) Run at least one half-marathon this year. I will get my running back on track, and have registered for a Running Room clinic that starts in February, and purchased the Nike+ GPS app now that I have an iPhone. Besides, my Nike Lunar Eclipse are just looking way too pristine in my closet. Bring on 21.1k!

(2) Eat more veggies. This is something I always grapple with–I cook up a storm but focus on mains and not so much veggies on the side. To help inspire me, I plan to invest in some great salad cookbooks, such as Williams-Sonoma New Flavors for Salads: Classic Recipes Redefined. Roasted Beat Salad with Blue Cheese, Grapefruit and Tarragon–yum!

(3) Get organized–from finally creating some sort of filing system for media releases (my office will be as tidy as the West Elm one above!) to better time management (have gotten into bad habit of being tardy–turns out I need more than 10 minutes to get in shower, dressed and out the door and to my event!).

Here’s to one fabulous year!

Please do share your salad/veggie recipes :)

I’ve done five different half-marathons in Toronto area, and my faves were Mississauga (pleasant route) and Goodlife Toronto Half-marathon (lots of downhill, gotta love that!)!

With regard to eating more veggies, have you tried ordering a weekly veggie box from someone like Abel & Cole?
I started doing this last year and just love my weekly “present” box of good wholesome organic fruit and vegetables delivered to my door. I then simply plan my meals around the vegetables I have received, rather than before when vegetables were an afterthought.

Thanks for the suggestion! I plan my meals based on what I have going on that week and the recipes I feel like eating and then hit the grocery store. I’m afraid much of a veggie box would go wasted, but it’s definitely something I’d consider if my current method doesn’t pan out!
