New Nike+ GPS app

A big reason I started running — and kept at it — is because of the Nike+ SportKit. At $40, it’s an inexpensive way for me to track my distance and pace (info I personally need to keep me motivated!).

That said, I’ve never bothered to calibrate it so perhaps the numbers are all slightly off; and now with a few SportBands and one SportKit floating around my house, it’s hard to keep track of which sneakers contain which corresponding chip.

Well, using Nike+ just got a whole lot easier and more precise with their just launched Nike+ GPS app for the iPhone. You no longer need wear the chip in your shoe (the accelerometer is built into the iPhone), and cuz it’s got GPS, you don’t have to calibrate your system (plus you can wirelessly upload your run immediately).

And, if you like looking through your past runs to monitor your progress, your Nike+ account will display a map of your run, including elevations. All for the low, low price of $1.99. Sweet.
